The Planning Board is an advisory board to the Town of Franklin, NC Franklin NC Town Council. The planning board reviews rezoning requests, text amendments and special use permits that require planning board comments.
The Board of Adjustment preforms quasi-judicial hearings for variance and appeal requests for Town of Franklin ordinances.

The Board of Adjustment meets the 2nd Monday of every month at 4:00 p.m. and the Planning Board meets the 3rd Monday of every month at 4:00 p.m. The meetings are held in the Town Hall Board Room. A time commitment of approximately 2 hours a month is necessary. A resume and current address is required. Franklin Tourism Development Authority (TDA)
The Tourism Development Authority is responsible for overseeing how room occupancy tax dollars are spent to promote travel and tourism in Franklin, North Carolina. The Tourism Development Authority board consist of nine (9) members. Members serve staggered two (2) or three (3) year terms. Three (3) members of the board must be involved with a business directly involved with the collection of rental property occupancy tax. Six members (6) of the board must be a tourist related business involved with the collection of state sales tax. By appointment of the Town of Franklin Franklin NC Town Council, the Town Manager shall be an ex offcio member to the authority. The Town Finance Officer serves as the ex-officio Finance Officer for the authority. The Tourism Development Authority meets the second Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Town Hall board room located at 95 East Main Street, Franklin, NC.
